We will study the remaining tenses in the future units.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Present Habitual Tense<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The habitual tense refers to actions that take place <i>habitually<\/i> but the timing isn\u2019t generally known. For example, let\u2019s look at the sentence \u201cI play basketball.\u201d It is definitely in the present, but we don\u2019t know definitively when the action began or stopped. Thus, we say that this sentence is in the present habitual tense. For example, let\u2019s look at the sentence \u201cI am playing basketball.\u201d Here, we are not referring to a habit or a habitual action like the habitual tense, but rather an action that is taking place in a known time period. You can remember this tense like this: time is <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">progressing<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> while an action takes place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The present progressive tense refers to actions that are going on in the present but have not yet been completed.
